Nice capture, Sheri! Love the eye contact and tones of the water. I have very fond memories of Beacon Hill Park, it's the jewel of Victoria in my opinion.. such a varied landscape and so much to see.
Thank you for your replies. Wasn't sure if it was just me. I was inquiring only, from a state of mild disappointment and seasonal blues...perhaps. Certainly didn't mean to ruffle any feathers so to speak!! I have no interest or time in complaining officially. Our good friend Larry did so on several occasions and never received a response. As my time is very limited, being a home-school mom of four, I'm not going down that road. I am an artist at heart, in most of what I do, so quality does matter to me. Not all of my uploads have a significant decrease in quality, and any comparison to Flickr was only so people could see the shot as it truly is...if they so desire. I too have been contacted by CG when they are interested in a shot, and have enjoyed the quality of shots uploaded to this site...even if, due to time restraints, my time here is short.
I notice some people are commenting about quality of uploads. Firstly, according to my experience, this isn't a fine art gallery and should not be used as one or compared to Flickr or, better yet, the 500px site. These are dedicated sites for high end photography. Another thing is the compression factor. If your image is compressed in any way, it will be blurry. Lastly, I have noticed that CG will actually contact you, as an artist, if they are interested in your composition and want to see a sharper and better quality image. Believe it or not, smaller images, or even thumbnails, reveal composition effectively. In the mean time, I have enjoyed many images here even if they are smaller or compressed. My list of "go to's" in B.C. has grown immensely by perusing them.
Any problems or complaints should be directed to photoclub@canadiangeographic.ca.....I too notice that my photos on this site do not represent the quality of my work. Also I have noticed over a lengthy period how slow it can be to view others photos on the site. I have slowly started to use Flickr and agree that the photos are as edited...have a look....Flickr account...Wayne Duke 76
