Morden Mine was last worked in 1921, but still contains an estimated 5 million tonnes of coal. Only 4 hectares, Morden Colliery Historic Provincial Park includes the mine site and railway bed down as far as the Nanaimo River.

This base for a pair of stacks (one also on the reverse) is all that remains of the steam plant that serviced the mine.
