Prince Charles Canada Day 2017

Taken after a ribbon cutting ceremony at the NAC's Grand Opening. I waited for 2 hours poised with my camera only to catch a glimpse of the back of his head after the motorcade arrived. Feeling disheartened, I caught a tip from an officer who told me that he would be exiting out the back way, so off I went behind the building. When he finally emerged, the car was waiting for him, but instead he walked straight out to us to say hello. I shook his hand right after I took this photo and told him I'd met his Mum when I was a little girl. It was quite a moment as I never expected to get a shot like this.
