This photo depicts the area commonly known as Abbot Pass and the death trap at the back of the Plain of Six Glaciers in Lake Louise. The death trap is no longer used to gain the pass, the overhead hazards from serac fall outweigh the benefits. At left in the photo is a bench used to gain access to the pass which reduces the hazard, although still involving technical mountaineering skills.
