Autumn Cathedral

Autumn is in full swing in Prince Edward County, albeit a bit early this year due to prolonged drought conditions. The Lake View Trail in Sandbanks Park winds from Lakeshore Lodge, through West Point and back out to the lake front near the Woodlands Campground. This photo was taken in the area which was part of the leisure grounds at Lakeshore Lodge decades ago. Many mature maples and oaks command patches of the forest and are just now reaching their fall splendor.
