A Thin Layer of Ice

As nighttime temperatures have been dropping to as low as -8 degrees C the waterways are starting to develop a thin layer of ice. Soon the migrating birds that remain at the marsh will have left until next spring. These Mallards and Yellowlegs were enjoying the time they had left while resting up for the next leg of their journey.

Nice long shot on these birds Debra, well detailed too. Freeze up came early this year and there were still some large flocks of birds coming through our region last week. I don't think they'll be staying very long except for a few swans and geese who always seem to leave it to the very last moment.
