Lepreau Falls

A short drive off the beaten track of Hwy 1 between St. Stephen and Saint John, the Lepreau Falls offers the visitor a safe, scenic spot for a spot of picnic lunch. The falls were formed, so my geology inclined colleagues tell me, by earthquake action acting along a fault line in the earth's crust. All I know is that it is thunderously noisy in the spring and fall and beautiful in all four seasons. In the fall, when this was taken, the water is a brownish shade from the dissolved tannins from dead leaves, and the volume is increased with every autumn rainfall.

Thank you Debra. It is a nice spot - the villages of Maces Bay, Welch Cove and Dipper Harbor are nearby photo spots and the Lepreau Peninsula Lighthouse is another. New River Beach offers a worthy nature/hiking trail with Venus Fly Traps, Sundews and many other native plants to shoot.
