A Bird of Higher Learning

I was meandering around the U of T campus when I spotted this magnificent creature perched at one of the entryways into Knox College - a Broad Shouldered Hawk. I'm not an ornithologist or professional 'birder' by any stretch, so if I have it wrong, I would welcome corrections from any and all. This is just a short stroll west of University Avenue, and another short stroll north of College St. Anyone familiar with this area appreciates how completely urbanized it is - chock full of huge buildings and swarming with people at all times of the day. A little surprising to find such a lovely specimen of wildlife living, and apparently thriving in such an environment.
