From Beaver Lake in Stanley Park, these water plants are beautiful to look at and they occupy a very significant portion of the Lake's surface. The word "Beast" in the title refers to the fact that they are an invasive species that has crowded out almost all of the native aquatic vegetation. I understand that plans are afoot to eradicate them from the Lake. And finally, it wasn't until a few days ago, while I was looking at this shot that I realized I had captured a working bee, and a water insect along with the blossom.
