Return of the Osprey

I have been checking the couple of Osprey nests that I follow for the last week now. Spotted this female Osprey sitting on the Borland Pit nest on April 19. I stayed for about half an hour and she did not leave the nest and the male had not put in an appearance. She appears to be looking for him or else protecting the nest from being taken over by other migrating Osprey new to the area. This is as close as I could get the property as this is an active gravel pit and they do not want anyone venturing onto the property for a variety of reasons safety being one of them.

Hi Debra. Glad you are back on the osprey adventure. Like that shot. It shows the bird close to human activity. Nice, nice.

A great shot in spite of the circumstances Debra! She looks lonely waiting for the return of her mate.. I hope he will show up soon. This such a powerful image and it speaks volumes about what our wildlife must cope with..

I feel for you, Debra. It will be so hard not to follow this nesting cycle from a closer location but to watch it at all is a great experience. Keep us posted!

I always find it amazing how they learn to live with humans and all their noise ! Kudos Osprey. You have a great perch. Thanks for sharing Debra.
