This Canada Goose seems to be quite happy being alone. I have seen it numerous times, in generally the same location, laying down at the side of the road. She's not sitting on eggs. Whether or not she lost a mate or is not wanting to take one on is a mystery.

Such a beautiful image! You can't help but wonder what her situation might be but it's good to know that she's getting around okay.
She's moving about quite freely. I saw her again today on the same road and she moved off into a slough as I approached. Thanks, Debra!
