The male Osprey returned to the nest and immediately started to mate with the female Osprey. Unfortunately the nest is so deep you are unable to see her in these pictures. According to what I have read she should lay the egg the morning after they have had a successful mating. The female will then incubate the egg(s) for 37 days after they have been laid. A more mature female/couple can lay as may as four eggs. Last year this couple/nest raised three chicks successfully. These images were taken on May 1st at the Inland gravel pit.

Beautiful capture Debra, he has an impressive wing span. I'll be looking forward to following their progress this summer.
I hope you get more shots like this when the young ones fledge, Debra. I would certainly love that opportunity myself. I have never followed a mating pair of eagles in the nest. Looking forward to your next photos.
