Cedar Waxwing and Blossoms

The technique that I used to get the bird photos in the blooms was to set up the camera for the best light and background that I was looking for and sitting quiet. Employing this technique meant that I needed to concentrate on 2-3 branches out of the whole tree and rely on whole lot of patience (not to mention luck) waiting for a bird to land in that exact spot. The advantage is that when a bird does show up, even if it's only 5m away, they approached me and are a lot more tolerant of my proximity. This photo of the Cedar Waxwing was one of those shots and was a total surprise to me. I don't usually see them around my yard until the Chokecherries are ripe but a small group was attracted to the blossoms and loitered for a day or two.
