There was a bit of harsh light shining at two P.M as this Blacktail Buck was about to walk into the forest after feeding.

I love the layers here Harold - dark grass, bright grass, mature buck with the beginnings of a large rack, dark background to highlight it all. Superb! Needs to be given the gift of a wall size enlargement!

Great shot Harold. Another way to get them curious, when they look at you and you're standing still, shake you hand in front of yourself. Give it a flick like you're “shaking your tail,” and repeat, repeat. All you need is for them to stand still a moment for the shot.

A truly excellent portrait capture of this fine looking fellow. I love the eye contact and the pov on this one especially. I've never thought of imitating them in order to get their attention but it obviously works very well for you.

I almost ran into a deer on my bicycle last week...looking up in the trees for birds!! It blew as it ran into the bush!! Nice shot, Harold!

It does seem like you have a lot of nice bucks in your area Harold. He stood and posed for you very nicely in the deep grass, well done.
