This Redhead duck is not so common to Haida Gwaii but does inhabit parts of British Columbia. It has been swimming daily in a slough near my home for more than a month by itself. Sometimes we have birds that are not common that come in on a storm and decide to stay a while.

This image tells a really interesting story about both the redhead duck and the floating island. Very serene and nicely captured.
Love that scenery Harold. Glad you choose the scenery format instead of a portrait of the duck. Even with no duck the scene is very beautyful. Soft tones and reflection in the background are nice. For me, the island with grass and moss is just fantastic. Very pleasant to look at.
I shot this one at a distance, Debra, so thought including some other features in the scene was better than trying to crop for the duck. Luckily he swam by these grass covered logs. I'm still hoping for a closer shot at it.
A very serene shot Harold. I really like the composition with the grasses running through the image. Nice light, tones and subtle reflection in the water all showcasing the duck.
