I was wandering through a local gravel pit area when this Red-tailed Hawk flew out from behind a hill of gravel and landed in a tree. There was lots of noise and I realized he was being harrassed by a pair of robins. They would not leave the Hawk alone. I was Taking a couple of photos when I heard this noise come out of the hawk. It was the growl a cat makes when it is backed into a corner by another cat or a dog.

It can be quite a spectacle to see the raptors crying out for mercy from a bird far smaller than they are. I witnessed a raven getting the same treatment from an eastern kingbird yesterday and of course I didn't have my camera with me. A beautiful portrait of this hawk hiding out Harold and I like the story behind the image.

Very nice capture Harold. The white background is just perfect to highlight the subject. Great detail of the wawk and the old fead tree.. Like it very much.

The Hawk is looking at a robin on another branch. It would have told the story better if I could have included the robin in the scene but it was just too far away.

Great moment to capture Harold, he does look like he is trying to take cover. Wonderful focus and details in this image. Very nicely captured.
