It is really unusual to see Pelicans in this area this time of year. The lone Pelican was sitting on a rock that usually has twenty or so Seagulls. I was thinking that the Pelicans appearance is probably due to the smoke pushing the birds and wildlife further south to hopefully safety. This image was taken closer to evening with a lot more smoke in the air.

very minimalist scene that totally shows the impact of the fires. Well done Debra

Great shot and description Debra. I love so much the simplicity of the scene and the foggy effect of the smoke. It kind of suggest a canvas and let my imagination drive to nowhere.

A remarkable image with a mood all its own, Debra. Can't help but think of the lonely pelican forced to flee from the situation it came from and wonder just how severe an impact wildfires have had on all of our wildlife caught in the situation. Excellent capture and thought provoking too.
