Juvenile Osprey antics

I visited the Borland Pit Osprey nest today knowing that my time to see the Osprey family is coming to an end for 2021. Only two of the juveniles were around the nest. I was not able to locate the parents or the other sibling. One male juvenile was protecting food in the nest and would not allow the female juvenile to land in the nest. In this picture the male juvenile is vocally warning the female juvenile not to land, however his warnings were ignored. For a split second all you could see were wings and legs as the male juvenile stood firm. The female continued on down to a rock pile at the bottom of the pit. She perched there for quite a while and then took another unsuccessful attempt at getting back into the nest.

Great action photo, Debra. Nice to see your catching the young ones before winter comes. Nice exposure and along with your story it certainly shows the need for survival among wildlife , even siblings.

Super shot at the action Debra. You got a very bright ighting here. Like it very much. Your explanation of the show reminds me that nature has its way that I don't always agree on. The pose of the female is very nice. Well done.

An awesome capture of the young Ospreys, Debra, it really shows how competitive life must be for these young birds. Perfect timing on this one and it's nice to get such an interesting view of life in a young Osprey's world. Great shot!
