I remember this overcast morning fondly. There weren’t many birds and it was dull and grey. Not great … until this blue-winged teal worked its way along the shore. He stopped right in front of me to preen and then he took a power nap within a few feet of where I was hidden. It was the kind of moment that gets me out of bed and outside before the sun rises.
