I had just returned from my backyard where the Grosbeaks feed every winter on the seeds of our old black ash trees and found there were none to be seen. As I paused in front of my house I spotted them at one of the feeders where the view was spotty at best. Fortunately for me something spooked them and they flew up into a spruce tree right in front of me giving me some very nice poses against a clear blue sky.

Agree very much with Yves, great timing on catching the beautiful pose of the male and the action by the female. Perfect focus…beautifully captured Heather.

Like that one too. Meaningful pose of the male looking back at the female (I presume) Great lighting of the male that stands out well and just the bright orange head of the female.
