A pair of Pine Grosbeaks pose pretty for me atop a spruce tree. They are the largest member of the Finch family. They're also found in subalpine evergreen forests from eastern Asia to Scandinavia. The oldest recorded Pine Grosbeak was a male, and at least 9 years, 9 months old when he was found in Quebec in 1970. He was first captured and banded in Connecticut in 1961.

Gorgeous one Heather. For the beautyful colours of the birds, the simplicity of the compo with just those few branches and the profound blue. Love the sharp focus too. Very nice capture.
