I thought I'd try hiding under one of those cheap burlap camouflage blankets at the edge of a pond in our neighbourhood green space. I'm certain some of my neighbours might have been a little weirded out, seeing me creeping around on the ground with a big heavy conspicuous telephoto lens (200-500mm f5.6). I was getting slightly bored and a little sleepy, when this guy chose to actually land on top of me. (speaks to the camo blankets effectiveness, not to my skills) He didn't stay longer than a couple of seconds before he moved to the edge of the pond about 15ft away and started his feeding. Imagine my joy and heart pounding excitement when he wandered between me and those cattail reeds in the low sunset light. I managed to very slowly manoeuvre my camera to aim at him and rattle of a few shots while he looked in my direction. He stayed for three or four minutes before strolling around a corner and out of site. I love spring time.
