This beauty just gave me the nicest pose while waiting his turn at the sunflower feeders. The pine grosbeaks have been here since October feeding on the seeds of the black ash trees but have turned to sunflower seeds to help them through the frigid temperatures we've had lately. Wishing my friends on here on Canadian Geographic a Happy New Year!

Thank you very much Yves. I wait very patiently for shots like this. I've been trying for days to get the right lighting and a clear view like this one and finally lucked out with a few good ones :) Even in the bitter cold we've had lately it's been well worth the effort.

You're dam good at shooting those little birds. Bokeh in black and white with the deep red of the bird is just perfect. Like that pose from the back so we see nice detail of the wings feathers. But the bird must turn his head to get the perfect shot. How did you do that? Great shot.
