This Bald Eagle had been sitting on the hay bale for about 10 minutes watching junior fly about the floodway. I am not sure if he had spotted possible lunch or was just going to meet up with junior. I was on the side of the highway in no rush so I sat waiting for the Eagle to take flight. Happily he/she cooperated.

Thank you Heather. Time was on my side on this very sunny day. I am always on the look out for hawks etc around the hay bales. I believe there is an eagles nest in the park across the highway.

Great that you saw the opportunity for a very artistic shot Debra. Sun is at a perfect angle and simplicity of the elements make the black and white big bird pop up very nicely. Appreciate the upright pose of the eagle.with the shadow

Your patience certainly paid off in getting a wonderful action and shadow shot too. Very nice composition and detail on this majestic looking eagle; the wing shadow adds a very unique detail to the image. So beautiful and well captured Debra.
