Northern lights Quebec style. It's great when a whole bunch of things come together. The more variables that align - the better the photo whether it's a fluke or planned. To capture a fox watching the light show on Montmorency Falls outside Quebec City is a picture that happened suddenly. I was on my way to photograph a group of ice climbers who were scaling the frozen falls at night. The falls are 82 meters high and climbers go up the frozen left side. It's insane that they do it at night as well. Anyway I spooked a fox on my way there and he hid in the tops of the trees that are frozen into an icy drift on the left of the picture. It was a sheet of ice everywhere so the fox had to come out and up at some point. Heart pounding I got ready and snapped one picture before he went up a slope I would not have thought possible. I was so afraid to look at the back of my camera for fear of wasting the moment.
