Every year, Canada turns orange. In order to respect and acknowledge the cultural assimilation of residential schools, citizens across Canada wear orange shirts. Racially targeted laws like the Indian act, Gradual Civilization Act, and 60's scoops took the traditional culture and heritage of many indigenous children. I had the opportunity to meet and take a portrait of indigenous leaders from the salish community.
