A Purple Finch: not the best descriptor of these cute little birds (IMO) given that it isn't exactly 'purple'....more a rosey-red or, perhaps even more the coloring of having been dipped in a fine merlot. Did you know that when confronted with a Common Finch at a food source, they generally lose out altho they will give way to Siskin's but dominate goldfinches. The pecking order at a feeder is most interesting to watch
