Connecting Montreal to the South Shore, Old Champlain Bridge lasted only for a bit more than 40 years, its concrete structure was disintegrating due to the weather and salt. A new Samuel de Champlain Bridge was built and inaugurated in 2016. Then came the dismantling of the old one.
