This Short Eared Owl (Asio flammeus) sits behind a snowy berm waiting for a blizzard to abate. I braved the weather and went out to see if any drama was unfolding on the windswept fields of Grande Pre, Nova Scotia. A tiny ring of yellow alerted me to its presence. I still don't know how I was able to spot it. The scene was pretty epic with the snow falling and blowing like crazy.
