Long-eared owls are not that common to see. However, After hours of conducting a nocturnal owl survey for Birds Canada in Quebec a couple of nights ago, we got an incredible gift from Mother Nature. At the stroke of midnight, we spotted this Long-eared Owl sitting on the shoulder of the road, hunting. We stopped the vehicle and the bird didn’t move. The only light source is the beams of the car. The owl continued to hunt and didn’t move until we passed it very slowly in our car many minutes later. It was an unforgettable experience!
