When it comes to photographing cottontails, I know one angle and one angle only. But damn, is it a good angle 😂 I remember reading somewhere once that when it comes to pet rabbits, one of the best ways to get them comfortable with you when you first get them home is to pretty much ignore them. Be in the room with them, but don't make eye contact, don't interact, just don't. Intrigued by this, I tried it out on the wild cottontails, and slowly meandered over without looking at them until I was just a few meters away, and then I slowly crouched down. I didn't lift the camera right away, and when I did I made sure to move very slowly. And the strategy has pretty much paid off! There's always the odd rabbit that will run no matter what, but this approach has allowed me to spend more time watching cottontails.
