Surfs Up

As I was driving along the road, I saw this female Surf Scoter hanging out so I stopped the truck and snapped some photos. She had turned away from me, so I started talking to her and she turned back around and swam back towards me! I decided to shut the truck off and continue talking to her and she kept swimming until she was right up against side of the road. She didn’t seem bothered by me at all, probably got pretty lonely being the only one of her kind at the lake as she migrates her way to the ocean. We get some pretty neat birds that will stop here once in a while and so far, I have been lucky to have seen two “rare” birds for our area.
