The two adults and six cygnets were right beneath the dock as I clicked away trying to get my best angle and hoping for a little better view of them. They were on the move that day and I only had a few minutes to photograph them from the pier directly above before they headed across the lake. Tragically two of the cygnets were killed in a severe wind storm that struck the area a week ago. They were working very hard at learning to fly and it's believed they must have struck the water very hard and suffered fatal injuries. Hopefully the remaining four cygnets will make out okay, it's only another month before they will have to be ready to migrate.

What a beautiful family and shot Heather. I am glad you were able ito get a shot of them all together. This overhead shot really does show them off nicely, it appears that they are looking at something below them. Truly sad that two of them did not survive the storm, hopefully the others are strong enough to make it south through all the challenging weather.
Beautyful shot at your beloved white swan. This shows well the difference between the adult and the youngs. Also appreciate your writer talent on a nice story about your favorite birds.
