Sandhill Cranes migrating to the south stop overnight in southern Quebec. Early morning they can be seen feeding in the harvested fields then they get some rest during daytime in the tall grass in the marshes. I can capture their passage from the dyke La Digue aux Aigrettes that runs around the Réserve nationale de faune du lac St-François. Since they mate for life they fly in pairs and pick a safe spot to land in the middle of the marshes.
