This white-tailed buck is a good example of a buck in full rut. His neck is so swollen his head appears to be pushed up or squeezed. The doe had left her scent on the edge of the bush and ran through the ditch and back into the trees. Suddenly I heard a crashing and this large buck came out of the bush. He stopped to check the scent and then followed her back into the bush. I am not sure how this big fellow even got through that twisted mess of brush.

Super shot Debra. Sure a front page of a specialised magazine. The special color tone of the forest in the back fit very well the proud look of that King buck. Thanks for the story too. The zoom option shows it with the perfect lighting to keep the mood of the picture.
