The Cardinals only seem to hang around when it's terrible light conditions...like cloudy and raining today. However, I managed to get this shot of the male. I like how he is framed by the red maple branches.

Composing with the shooting conditions is the challenge of the photographer. It soften the usual big red of the bird and maple branches to match the zen pale green of the background. I like ivery much the special mood it gives to the photo.

Very nice shot and composition Jane given the weather conditions. He even has a sparkle in his eye. Agreed I like how you framed him is framed with the red branches on either side, great angle.
