In the winter trees are bare of leaves except some still have red fruits/berries. These trees provide fresh food for birds and squirrels. Cedar Waxwings are quite striking with their colorful plumage and the black mask around their eyes. They are feeding on the tree and as they are so skittish I have to approach gradually otherwise they fly away to the top of nearby trees. After 10-15 minutes of cautious progress in plain sight I was finally able to take this shot of a Cedar Waxwing taking off.
