Despite spending much of their time in water, ducks also regularly bathe as part of their routine preening rituals. This practice seems to clean the feathers and the usual follow-up preening helps distribute oil on their feathers to keep them waterproof. This image of a Blue-winged Teal was made in April from a ground blind.
