Great Blue Herons are pretty common in our part of the world and yet being able to photograph one never ceases to thrill my soul. This evening’s light was quite fabulous for making a dramatic side lit image. Like all art, wildlife photography is about persistence and commitment to growth in the craft. Although I’ve made heron images in this same place perhaps 20 times, this night’s session was different. They were in a great position for the light and the sky was clear. Synchronicity that may not happen again for another 20 evenings or maybe it’ll happen again tomorrow. That’s the mystery and fun of it.
