These properties which included a home, barn and other buildings provided the opportunity for those interested in starting this way of life to see all that was required to successfully farm on the Canadian Prairie. The CPR established these sites along their rail line so that the crops could then be transported on their rails to market and also they could deliver any items needed for the establishment of these farms and the subsequent towns to follow in the area.
