On our first evening at Prince Edward Island National Park in September I noticed several groups of shorebirds on the beach. I got up before dawn the following morning and went to the spot I'd seen some gathering at. In the pre-dawn I laid down in the sand and moved to within a few meters of this small gathering as they slumbered. As the sun topped the horizon I made this image.
