One of the earliest signs of spring migration in southwestern Ontario is the arrival of the Tundra Swans. This flock of a dozen are coming into a cornfield on cupped wings to slow them down for landing. Several thousand stage in the area for a couple of weeks taking advantage of leftover corn from the previous fall before continuing on to their Arctic breeding grounds.
