Went to visit the Northern Hawk Owl in our region today. Sadly, I had heard stories of it being baited but decided to check it out anyway. This morning there was no baiting happening and the smallish group of people (except one) were respectfully shooting from the road. The owl became very active about 11:30 AM when the rain came through and was hunting the ditches by the roadside. I separated myself from the rest of the photographers a bit, and when the owl flew across the road, this is the shot I got. No bait, right place, right time and being prepared.
