Wings of Spring

report

On a cold early spring morning a female Anna's Hummingbird gathers fluff for her nest. Warmer weather has brought change to the landscape once again as Song Sparrows sing over solemn marshes. Cattails become busy sites for hummingbirds to gather nesting material, and blooming salmonberries invite the return of slumbering pollinators. Anna's Hummingbirds build their nests out of moss, lichens, spider silk, and a variety of plant fluff. This nest will be home to two tiny hummingbird chicks for only three weeks as they prepare to fly for the first time. Taken on February 26, 2024.
