I don’t think I will ever have the proper words to describe yesterday’s otherworldly experience of being in the path of totality for the total eclipse of the sun. It was unlike anything I’ve experienced in life. You can use all the adjectives in the book to describe the indescribable few minutes either side of totality & the 3:30 we had of totality - but the reality of it is, it’s something you must experience 1st hand to fully appreciate. I now understand why eclipse chasers exist! Well photos & videos are beautiful, nothing could compare to the feeling, the energy, the aura of the experience. The feeling it has left me with is still buzzing inside of me. The post event feeling I have I can only equate to a handful of life experiences. The birth of my nephew Sam. My 1st encounters with a wild polar bear.. my 1st great white shark & humpback whale encounters underwater & my first off the charts night under an Aurora filled sky. I know by now you have seen multiple eclipse images. I wanted to say this, which applies to any pro or serious hobbyist. Each image you’ve seen as similar as they are, took days, weeks, months or years of planing, studying & practice. Each is unique to the individual’s behind the lens. Yes you have seen & will see more eclipse images & I’m damn proud to say that these ones are mine! Special to me, perhaps special to you because you know me, the year of planning. Special maybe because I shot from the shores of Lake Erie at Long Point. When you see these & others try to remind yourself of all the meticulous planning & prep it took just to have the opportunity to share our results with you. The pressure of a once in a lifetime opportunity we put on ourselves to not mess up the moment. There is so much more to appreciate that goes far deeper than the surface of each eclipse image.
