This image of a female Sandhill Crane was made this morning just after sunrise. Sandhill Cranes often pick up vegetation and throw it as part of their courtship rituals. This female happened to pick up some aquatic vegetation which sprayed water as she raised her head quickly. A strong backlight made the spray glow.
