Wildlife photography often gives the sense animals can be easily seen and viewed in open environments. The truth about finding most animals in their habitat is it's much more difficult to get a clean view. Gray Catbirds usually conceal themselves in dense, shrubby vegetation. Their meow call is often the only sign one has of their presence. This image came about as I was walking a favourite trail. The Catbird flew into this wee area of sunlight clear of scrubby branches and I focused through the foliage as it continued to call. It provides a truer representation of Catbirds in their habitat than ones photographed in the open
