I was lucky to get a picture of this heron on the shore closest to me. He was so focused on the geese in the pond that he paid no attention to me. I had visited the pond yesterday and did not see the heron. However, on my ride home (the other side of town) I spotted a Great Blue Heron flying along the rode I travel on and he appeared to be flying over to the pond that I find him eating in. Maybe one day I will find their nesting arear.

Beautiful portrait of this handsome looking heron. You caught him in such a good pose against a great background and he stands out very well here. Great shot Debra.. and I hope you're able to find more of them. I was reading recently that these herons take turns sitting on the nest in twelve hour shifts.

Perfect framing of that beautyful nature scene. Those slim grasses so well accompany the heron without hiding its beauty. The background let the bird show off with colours that you capture very well. Hope I will see the nesting activity.
