I decided to take my dog for a morning walk through the forest despite the impending rain clouds and was thrilled to spot this beautiful barred owl perched among the budding trees on the edge of a swamp. I admired it for a moment before I took the risk of running all the way back home to grab my camera. To my delight, the owl hadn't moved while I was gone, but the rain had started. The exhilarating experience and resulting photos were worth the wet clothing. It was my first time seeing an owl in the wild.
