This female Monarch spent a hot, sunny afternoon laying eggs on my milkweed patch. Milkweeds are the only plant they will lay their eggs on, as that is what the caterpillars eat.

Wonderful shot Jane. I love all the detail and colour in the the butterfly. Very nice soft pastel background.
